Professor Gilly is an expert in marketing, with an emphasis on services marketing, customer service, internal marketing and e-commerce quality.

Dr. Gilly's recent research focuses on the impact of advertising on employees and on determinants of e-commerce quality. Her research is supported by grants from the Marketing Science Institute and NSF through the Center for Research on Information Technology and Organizations. Other research focuses on cross-cultural service encounters. 

Dr. Gilly received her Ph.D. from the University of Houston, her M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University and her B.A. from Trinity University. She conducts her research in a variety of organizations, such as hospitals, quick service restaurants, high- tech firms and small retailers. Recent journal publications include "Advertising's Internal Audience" with Mary Wolfinbarger in Journal of Marketing, 1998,  "Marketer Acculturation: The Changer and the Changed" with Lisa Peņaloza in Journal of Marketing, 1999, and "Shopping Online for Freedom, Control and Fun," with Mary Wolfinbarger in California Management Review, 2001.
