"Application of Goal Programming for Capacity Waste Minimization," (with Sushil and V.K. Agrawal), International Journal of Operations and Production Management, 1989.

Abstract

The major components of capital waste are capacity under-utilization and a high level of inventory. In this paper, we are concerned with the wastage of capacity that occurs whenever a plant, facility or equipment is not fully utilized. We model the effects of four factors, lack of jobs, machine breakdown, material shortages, and set-up time in a goal programming framework applied to data from an automobile manufacturing plant.
